Research Question : Are fingerprints pattern inherited?

Hypothesis: Yes. It is inherited.

Independent Factor: Fingerprints patterned, the person who is the victim, the number of test,  the type of fingerprints pattern.
Dependent Factor: Location
Controlled Factor: Number of test

Research Question

Question:

Does IQ affect how you study, and is IQ inherited from parents?

Who is participating: Teachers, students

When: 2-5 Days

Where: School Lab

Why: Feasible, Accessible materials, Manageable to do

How: Lessons from online; trial and error.

Research Question

What i want to do: Are fingerprints patterns inherited? (http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Genom_p009.shtml#summary)
Who: My group, teachers, lab technician
When: It takes 2-5 days.
Where: In school
Why: It is very easy and manageable and it fulfils  the three factors, Manageability, accessibility and feasibility.
How: We can have the kit in the school for testing.
Which: The project are to find whether fingerprints pattern inherited.

Research Questions on Electronic Pollution.

http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/EnvSci_p026.shtml

Who?
My group and Lab Support Officers

What?
Items that gives off low and high electromagnetic radiation, eggs of small organisms

When?
In 2 - 5 days time

Why?
It is confirm that electromagnetic radiation affects us.

Which?
--

Where?
Electronics Lab

How?
We would need to have some sort of a machine that can give off an accurate amount of radiation.

Research question

What I want to do:

Build a Raft Powered by Surface Tension

Where: Anywhere

When: It takes less than a week

Why:  It seems Interesting and it is manageable, feasible and Accessible.

Who: My group

Which:  Project is to Build a Raft Powered by Surface Tension

How:

Procedure located here:

http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Phys_p010.shtml#procedure

Materials Suggested:
  • Kitchen sponges (2)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler, metric
  • Transparencies, like those used on an overhead projector (2); available at your local office supply store
  • Marker
  • Toothpicks (1 box)
  • Tape
  • Large basin or sink
    • It should be large enough that the raft can travel a short distance within it.
    • Make sure it can be easily emptied, as you will be filling and re-filling it with fresh water often.
  • Water
  • Eye dropper; available at your local pharmacy
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Other substances to test their affect on water surface tension (try at least four):
    • Liquid hand soap
    • Toothpaste
    • Vegetable oil
    • Table salt
    • Corn starch, vinegar, or any other substances you want to test
  • Lab notebook

Terms and Concepts

  • Resistance
  • Surface tension
  • Molecule
  • Cohesive forces
  • Polar molecules
  • Hydrophilic
  • Surfactants

Questions to ponder about:
  • What causes the surface tension of water?
  • How do surfactants decrease the surface tension of water?
  • What do you think will happen to an object floating on the surface of water if the surface tension decreases?
  • What happens to water molecules when a drop of surfactant is put in the middle of them?

Questions

What is Science?

Science is the study of the materials around us, to better understand how things work and to understand the tiny to the massive.

What are scientific methods?

Scientific methods are methods people try to answer the questions surrounding them.

First ISS Question

What is Science?

Science is a systematic entreprise that builds and organises knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.

What are Scientific Methods?

Scientific Methods are bodies of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge.

First ISS question

What is Science?

Science is the concerted human effort to understand, or to understand better, the history of the natural world and how the natural world works, with observable physical evidence as the basis of that understanding.

What are scientific methods?

1) the collection of data through observation and experiment.
2) formulation and testing of hypotheses
3) principles and procedures for the systematic pursuit of knowledge involving the recognition and formulation of a problem

Question Of The Day
